About
What Convert Image does
Convert PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF images to JPG, PNG or WebP. Drop in a whole batch, pick a format, and every file is converted at once — then download them individually or as a single ZIP.
Everything happens on your own machine: the file is decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser, and never leaves your device. There is no upload, no queue and no account.
Why this one
Why use Convert Image here
-
Nothing is uploaded
Your images are converted by your own browser. There is no copy on a server to delete afterwards, because there never was one.
-
A whole batch at once
Drop as many images as you like. Change the format or the quality and every one converts again, from its original.
-
Transparency handled
PNG and WebP keep transparent areas. JPG cannot hold them, so they are filled with white rather than turning black.
-
Location data left behind
The GPS position and camera details hidden in a photo are not copied into the converted file.
How it works
How to use Convert Image
-
Drop your images onto the page, click to choose them, or paste one from the clipboard.
-
Pick the format to convert to: WebP, JPG or PNG. WebP starts selected, because it is the smallest of the three at the same quality.
-
For JPG and WebP, set the quality. Every image converts again as you change a setting, always from its original.
-
Download a single image, or all of them as a ZIP.

Questions
Frequently asked
How do I convert an image to JPG?
Drop the image here, choose JPG and download it. PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF files all convert, one at a time or a whole batch, and nothing is uploaded.
Which format should I choose?
For a website, WebP: it is markedly smaller than JPG or PNG at the same quality, and every current browser shows it. Choose PNG for screenshots, logos and anything with transparency or sharp text, and JPG when the file has to open in older software.
Does converting to JPG lose transparency?
Yes. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white when you convert to it. Choose PNG or WebP to keep them.
Can I convert to AVIF?
Only in a browser that can write AVIF, and Chrome, Edge and Firefox cannot yet. There the option is greyed out, rather than quietly giving you a different format. Opening AVIF works in all of them, so you can convert AVIF to JPG, PNG or WebP.
Is there a file size or batch limit?
There is no limit imposed by us, because there is no server involved. The practical ceiling is your own device memory — very large batches of very large images are bounded by available RAM.
Does converting reduce quality?
Converting to PNG loses nothing. JPG and WebP are compressed, and at the default quality of 80 the difference is hard to see; raise it for photos you will edit again, lower it for smaller files.
Can I convert HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Use HEIC to JPG for those. Most browsers cannot open HEIC by themselves, so it has a converter of its own that can.
What happens to an animated GIF?
Only its first frame is converted, so the result is a still image.
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are processed inside this page, on your device, and saved straight back to it. Nothing is sent to a server, so there is no copy anywhere else to delete.
