About
What AVIF to JPG does
Convert AVIF images to JPG. AVIF is a newer, very compact format that more and more websites serve, so a saved picture sometimes arrives as .avif — and many apps, editors and upload forms cannot open it yet. A JPG opens everywhere.
Everything happens on your own machine: the file is decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser, and never leaves your device. There is no upload, no queue and no account.
Why this one
Why use AVIF to JPG here
-
Opens in everything
AVIF is new enough that plenty of apps, editors and upload forms still refuse it. A JPG opens everywhere.
-
Many at once
Drop as many AVIF files as you like; they convert together and download as one ZIP.
-
Quality you choose
JPG is compressed, and the slider sets how much. 80, the default, suits most photos.
-
Nothing is uploaded
Your images are converted by your own browser and never leave your device.

Questions
Frequently asked
How do I convert AVIF to JPG?
Drop the AVIF files here. Each is converted to JPG straight away; download them one at a time or together as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.
What is an AVIF file?
A newer image format, based on the AV1 video codec, that stores photos in much less space than JPG. Many websites now serve it, which is why saved images sometimes turn out to be .avif.
Why won't my AVIF file open?
Plenty of apps, older editors and upload forms do not read AVIF yet. Converting it to JPG gives you a file every one of them accepts.
Will converting AVIF to JPG lose quality?
A little: JPG is compressed too. At the default quality of 80 the difference is hard to see; raise it for the sharpest result. Expect the JPG to be larger than the AVIF: that is the price of opening everywhere.
What happens to HDR images?
An HDR or wide-colour AVIF comes out in standard range and ordinary colour, which is what a JPG saved here holds.
Which browsers can open AVIF here?
Any up-to-date one: Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are converted inside this page, on your device, and saved straight back to it. Nothing is sent to a server, so there is no copy anywhere else to delete.
