About
What Edit PDF does
A full PDF editor that runs in your browser. Change the words already on the page, move and swap images, add text, highlight and comment, fill in forms or build new ones, redact, make scans searchable and sign with a certificate, then download a file that opens the same in any PDF reader.
Drop a PDF and the editor opens right here, ready to change text. Word documents open too, converted to PDF as they arrive.
Everything happens on your own machine: the file is decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser, and never leaves your device. There is no upload, no queue and no account.
Why this one
Why use Edit PDF here
-
Edit the text that's already there
Click a line and type. The change is set in the document's own font wherever it can be, and a paragraph re-wraps as it grows. Most free editors only let you add text on top.
-
What others charge for, free
Redaction that truly removes, OCR for scans, forms that fill in and certificate signatures, with no trial, no account and no watermark.
-
Your document stays with you
It is opened, edited and saved by your own browser. Contracts, medical records and tax papers never reach anyone's server.
-
No limits
No task quota, no page cap and no file-size limit beyond your device's memory. Edit as many documents as you like.
How it works
How to use Edit PDF
-
Drop a PDF here, or a Word document to edit as a PDF. The editor opens over this page with Edit text chosen.
-
Click any line to change it, or pick another tool from the bar: Add text, Move, Comment, Prepare form or Redact. OCR and Sign are under More.
-
Undo anything as you go. Each page's thumbnail shows your changes as you make them.
-
Press Export. The editor re-opens the file it wrote to check it, then you download it — compressed or password-protected if you like.
Questions
Frequently asked
How do I edit a PDF?
Drop it on this page. The editor opens with Edit text chosen: click any line and type. Use Add text to write somewhere new and Move to shift text and images, then Export to download the result.
Can I edit the text that's already in a PDF?
Yes, which most free editors cannot do. Click a line and type: the change is set in the document's own font where it has the characters, in a close match where it doesn't, and a paragraph re-wraps as it grows. If an edit can't be made faithfully, the editor says why instead of guessing.
Is it really free? What's the catch?
There isn't one: no trial, no paid plan for editing, no watermark, no account and no daily limit. It costs us nothing to run, because your computer does the work instead of a server of ours.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened, edited and saved inside your browser, and the download is made on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, so a confidential document stays as private as it is on your own computer.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
A scan is a picture of text, so there are no words in it to change. Run OCR first (under More): it reads English text on your device and makes the pages searchable and selectable, and the words it finds can then be found and redacted.
How do I sign a PDF?
Draw your signature with the pen, or type it in a text box, both in the Comment tool. For a signature that proves who signed and that nothing changed afterwards, Sign (under More) signs with your certificate file, and its key never leaves your device.
Can I fill in a PDF form?
Yes. Type into its fields, and the answers are saved in the fields when you export. A flat form with nowhere to type can be given fields with Prepare form, which finds the blanks on the page for you.
Can I black out private information?
Use Redact. It removes the words and pictures under each mark from the file itself, rather than drawing a box over them, and checks the download to confirm they are gone.
Can I add, delete or reorder pages?
Yes. Drag pages into order, turn, duplicate or delete them, and drop in another PDF to add its pages. Bookmarks follow the pages they point to.
Will my changes show in Adobe Reader and other apps?
Yes. Text edits are written into the page itself, comments as the standard annotations any PDF reader lists, and form answers into the form's own fields.
Can I edit a Word document here?
Drop a .docx file and it opens as a PDF, ready to edit. If the converter had to simplify anything, it tells you what before the pages are added.
Is there a file size or page limit?
None is imposed. The only limit is your device's memory, so a phone manages smaller files than a laptop does.
