About
What AVIF to PNG does
Convert AVIF images to PNG when you need transparency kept, or a file every editor can open and save without losing anything more.
Everything happens on your own machine: the file is decoded, processed and re-encoded by your browser, and never leaves your device. There is no upload, no queue and no account.
Why this one
Why use AVIF to PNG here
-
Transparency kept
Transparent and see-through areas come across as they were in the AVIF.
-
Lossless from here on
PNG stores every pixel exactly, so editing and saving again loses nothing more.
-
Opens in every editor
PNG is read by every app and design tool, including the many that cannot read AVIF yet.
-
Nothing is uploaded
Your images are converted by your own browser and never leave your device.
How it works
How to use AVIF to PNG
-
Drop your AVIF files onto the page, click to choose them, or paste one from the clipboard.
-
PNG is already chosen. There is no quality to set: PNG keeps every pixel.

-
Download one image, or all of them as a ZIP.

Questions
Frequently asked
How do I convert AVIF to PNG?
Drop the AVIF files here. Each is converted to PNG straight away; download them one at a time or together as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.
Does it keep transparency?
Yes. PNG stores transparency fully, so a logo or cut-out keeps its see-through background.
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the AVIF?
AVIF is one of the most compact image formats there is, while PNG stores every pixel exactly. Expect the PNG to be many times the size; each file shows both.
Is the PNG lossless?
From here on, yes: it keeps the pixels exactly as the AVIF had them. It cannot restore detail the AVIF compression had already dropped.
What happens to HDR images?
An HDR or wide-colour AVIF comes out in standard range and ordinary colour, which is what a PNG saved here holds.
AVIF to PNG or AVIF to JPG?
PNG to keep transparency or to edit without further loss; JPG for a much smaller file that opens everywhere.
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are converted inside this page, on your device, and saved straight back to it. Nothing is sent to a server, so there is no copy anywhere else to delete.
